FORWARD LOOKING INFRA-RED

MITSUBISH IR-M700 FLIR FLIR 2

FLIR stands for Forward looking Infra Red. This little device can read the smallest if temperature variations at large distances. It can be used for applications as diverse as fire mapping, treetop animal surveys (birds, possums etc) to gas pipe leak detection and power line/ insulator integrity. Coupled with an accurate GPS based mapping system this is indeed a useful piece of equipment.

INCENDIARY FIRE LIGHTER

The PREMO MK III fire lighter is used for the accurate lighting of controlled fires. These fires may be to reduce fuel off season, or to burn a control line for an existing fire. The ‘ping pong’ balls are filled with potassium permanganate, commonly known as condies crystals. As they pass through the machine they are injected with glycol, beginning a reaction that results eventually in fire. The balls are heavy enough to fall through the canopy, lighting the undergrowth. The speed with which a fire can be lit, and the ability to light it in rugged or inaccessible terrain make this a very valuable service to land care professionals. With the FLIR to map a burn’s progress and Bambi bucket to ‘cool it down’ if necessary HELI SURVEYS can assist with all aspects of fire control.

Fire Bucket

WATER BOMBER

BAMBI BUCKET AND SACKSA FOAM

Known as a BAMBI bucket it has a capacity of 350 litres. It can be filled from water as shallow as six inches. The bucket can be used either directly onto a fire, or it can also be used to re-supply fire fighters working in remote areas. The water has a foam added to it to aid in the water dispersal.
